Death From Above 2019

I had the opportunity to illustrate an upcoming horror feature, “Attack of the Killer Chickens”, which was an absolute blast. Many thanks to Dave Stein and Jamie Robinson.

Young Adult Sci-Fi Series

I have been working for the last year or so with a writer from Arizona who is developing a young adult series based on the adventures of Tom Swift. It centers on a female protagonist named Emi, who is trying to develop a cure for a gnarly space plague. Here are some of the images I was commisioned to do:

I had a lot of fun doing it, and in a few weeks i will get to see it in print which is pretty exciting too. Hopefully it will be a bridge to further book work. I will post links when the book is available.

Film Studies

Lately I've been making a study of stills from classic films. It's a great way to learn about composition and colour. Here are a few I've done recently:

Colour Study. From Diamonds Are Forever (1971)

Compositional study. From O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000)

Film studies have helped me with storytelling, as every shot is deliberately composed to help the mood or narrative. I hope to translate what I have learned into comics one day.

New website goes live

Welcome, friends. I had to jettison my previous site as it was built in Flash and no longer supported by most platforms. I built this one in Squarespace and I think it will be a much better experience for everyone involved.

With both of my daughters in school this fall, I will have more time to focus on my first love, illustration. My motto this year will be "Finished, not perfect". I hope to create something every day. If not art then possibly cookies.

I will also be attending drop-in life drawing so watch this space for updates. Thank you all for your interest in my work!
